Punta Arenas, historically known as Sandy Point, was our first port in Chile and is the capitol city of Chile's southernmost region, Maagallanes and Antarctica Chilena.
Officially renamed Magallanes in 1927, it was changed back in 1938. It is the coldest coastal city of 100,000 inhabitants plus in Latin America.
Lynn was not feeling well the day we arrived and I went on a land excursion by myself.
During a long drive to Rio Verde and the Estancia Fitz Roy I got to see quite a bit of Punta Arenas.
